COUNSELLING

Frequently Asked Questions

What is integrative counselling?

Integrative counselling combines different psychological theories and techniques to create a flexible approach. I draw from person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive modalities to tailor our work specifically to your unique personality and needs, ensuring the therapy fits you rather than trying to make you fit a single model.

How do sessions typically work?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and are usually booked weekly. They offer a calm, respectful, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, supported by a professional presence and empathetic listening.

How is confidentiality handled?

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Everything we discuss remains private, managed in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and GDPR regulations. I will explain the very limited legal and ethical exceptions to this—such as if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others—during our initial session.

Who is counselling suitable for?

Counselling is anyone experiencing emotional distress, life transitions, or a desire for deeper self-understanding. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship complexities, or simply feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, therapy offers a pathway to clarity and resilience.

Appointment & Logistics

How long are the sessions?

Standard therapeutic sessions last for 50 minutes, known as the 'therapeutic hour'. This consistent timeframe helps us maintain focus and momentum in our work together.

What is the cancellation policy?

I operate a 24-hour cancellation policy. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the full session rate.

Where is your practice located?

My practice is situated in a tranquil, professional setting in Bexley. It is easily accessible by public transport with ample nearby parking for those arriving by car.

What are the fees and payment terms?

My current fee is £55 per session. Payment is kindly requested via bank transfer at least 24 hours prior to our scheduled appointment time.

Do you offer online or in-person sessions?

I offer both in-person sessions at my private practice and online therapy via Microsoft Teams. We can discuss which format best suits your circumstances during our initial chat.

Do you offer evening or weekend sessions?

Yes, I offer evening sessions and Saturday morning sessions subject to availability.

Getting Started

How do I make an enquiry?

You can reach out by filling in the contact form on this website. I aim to respond to all new enquiries within 48 hours to discuss how we might work together.

What happens after I contact you?

Once I receive your message, I will get in touch to offer a brief, complimentary telephone consultation. This 15-minute call is a space for us to meet, discuss your needs, and ensure you feel comfortable before proceeding.

How soon can I usually be seen?

Depending on availability, I typically offer an initial consultation within a week of your first enquiry. If we decide to work together, we will find a regular weekly slot that fits into your schedule and provides consistent support.

Do you offer a free initial chat?

Yes, the 15-minute introductory telephone call is completely free. It is an important opportunity for you to ask any questions and see if my integrative approach feels like the right fit for your journey.
